Faced with the daily results of the opioid epidemic in our nation, the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office has partnered with the Florida Parishes Human Services Authority Mobile Opioid Task Force to assist with outreach events and forums in the community and to distribute Naloxone (Narcan) to the families of opioid users.   Narcan can save a loved one’s life at the time of a potentially fatal overdose. STPCO participates in statewide monitoring of opiate-related deaths and also promotes the “One Pill Can Kill” campaign which targets curious teens and others who may become victims of counterfeit prescription pills being sold illicitly in the community. STPCO office also diligently tracks the incidence of all drug-related fatalities to ascertain and alert law enforcement and citizens to trends involving drug related deaths in our community.
