Shaken Baby Syndrome is a tragic condition of neurologic injury or death to the most vulnerable of our community.  The St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office Shaken Baby Syndrome prevention program is designed to demonstrate what little force it takes to cause devastating or fatal injuries to an infant if shaken in a moment of frustration. The program combines education and a demonstration using a state-of-the-art doll which shows participants using LED lights where injuries occur in the infant’s brain when shaken. The course materials also include techniques for parents and caregivers to de-escalate situations before they become critical.
